Aamir refuses to appear with Salman

God knows how but somehow Karan Johar has got Salman Khan’s approval to appear on his chat show, ‘Koffee With Karan’. Karan is a close buddy of Shahrukh Khan
and getting Salman’s nod is a great achievement for Karan. Karan wanted Salman to take part on the show with Aamir but he refused.

Confirming the news a source said, "Salman Khan has given his consent to appear on the show. This is something that he has never done in the past. Karan and Salman have become good friends now. In fact, Karan was spotted on several occasions at Salman`s residence Galaxy Apartments. Salman also put up a picture on his Twitter account that has him, Karan and model Hrishant Goswami."

When both refused to appear together, Karan approached Aamir to come with his wife Kiran and he agreed. When the perfectionist gave his nod, Salman also gave his consent to chat all alone with Karan.

You look ‘uncool’ daddy!

King Khan is a complete method actor. In a day when a hip and happening look appeals to the masses, Shahrukh Khan has stepped down from his cool image for Aditya Chopra’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi . When the promos of the movie were aired on TV, SRK’s look surprised everyone.

A moustache, oiled hair and loose formal clothes on sports shoes! People couldn’t believe if it was really SRK on their screens – the man who had recently brought the ‘six-pack abs look’ in fashion.

And not just his fans, SRK’s kids were shocked too when they first saw his new look. In an interview SRK explains that his kids think he looks very uncool in the film. They even brought to notice that if his pants have been a little higher, it would have added to the un-coolness.

He further informs that his kids have already seen the film and loved it too. His daughter cried and felt sad for his character. SRK reveals, that though his kids liked their cool daddy’s ‘not so cool’ look after watching Rab Ne ..., they like him better in the ‘six-pack abs’ avatar. Now it’s only after Friday that we’ll come to know if SRK’s fans feel the same!

SRK has disappointed?

Post the Mumbai terror attacks, everyone right from a lay man to a celebrity has taken matters into his hands to condemn the attacks. However, out of the Bollywood brigade it was only Himachal girls Preity Zinta and Kangana Ranaut who came out in the open and joined the peace march on 3rd December in Mumbai.

Rest all commercial ‘A graders’ gave it a miss. Except for a few lines on the fight against terrorism campaign shot by Wizcraft, Shahrukh has not expressed his feelings on the attack. Not just him, Saif, Hrithik, Akshay, Salman all of them chose to keep mum.

Feisty writer Shobhaa De too expressed her disappointment over Shahrukh’s passive response to the Mumbai Terror attacks in an article of her’s on Facebook.

Excerpts - “I read ‘Shah Rukh Khan's on BBC Asia’ (reported in a local tabloid) with a great deal of disappointment. The report begins by quoting him stating, "I tried to keep away from commenting on all this..." He later goes on to say, "Youngsters need to understand Islam and respect the religion in the right way...." Yes, Shah Rukh! You are not telling your fans something they don't know! Also, "........no agenda should be attached to any kind of religion.'' Thank you SRK, for stating the obvious. And for being so very politically correct.... non-committal ....during the most violent attack on Mumbai - the very city that has made you. I wanted to hear some words of comfort for those who died; some strong condemnation of those who committed this crime. This report made no mention of any such thing. And it was the only published comment from SRK to date”, wrote Shobhaa De.

The writer who holds a reputation of calling a spade a spade further writes, “SRK is no ordinary Bollywood star. Others from his fraternity have spoken up boldly. Why such a wishy-washy response from The King\Badshah etc etc?? This is the time for people like him, Sachin Tendulkar and others who preen away as 'National Icons' at other times, to stand up and be counted. Look at RGV's arrogant and offensive stance even today - boycott his lousy films and teach him a lesson. The Taj is not a potential movie set he needed to study for art direction! Most of the filmwallas owe something to someone sitting in Dubai.

“No wonder they have been so cautious and guarded in their response. Cowards! All they can think of are overseas’ box office returns (they make the most money in those markets). Dhanda has silenced their conscience. Amitabh sleeps with a gun under his pillow, and then says it is a symbolic act! Aamir weighs his words with care. Salman stays chhhup (just as well). Akshay, Hrithik, Saif...... lost your voices all of a sudden??”

Very well written Shobhaa De. We are with you and completely second your opinion. Atleast, there is one writer who has the courage to speak her mind against the ‘A grade’ Bollywood stars and their mild stance on terrorism.

Shahid’s a good boss

It is learnt that during an ad shoot in Goa, Shahid’s makeup man Srikant met with an accident. His fingers got badly jammed in the door of the van. The accident was so severe that the finger bone had fracture.

Since no doctor was available, Shahid decided to take Srikant to the hospital immediately as the swelling on the fingers worsened his pain. Shahid drove his make up man to the hospital which was far off from the location. This took a lot of time and the shoot was delayed, but Shahid was more concerned about his make up man than the shoot.

“Shahid did not move till Srikant felt completely okay. He got back to the set only when Srikant was given first aid. It delayed the shoot for a few hours,” said a unit hand. Interestingly, Shahid was not ready the time this accident happened. Now when the make up man was injured the question was who will do Shahid’s make up? “Shahid didn’t wait for other make up artist rather did his own make up and shot for the ad,” said our source.

With this, Shahid has proved that inside that cute looking face lies a compassionate heart that doesn’t mind going all out to help those in need.

I don't think I can make a film without Madhavan

Marathi director Nishikant Kamath has taken a strange and challenging route to success.

After making the enormously acclaimed Dombivali Fast in Marathi with Sandeep Kulkarni in the lead, Kamath took the film to Tamil cinema and has just completed the film in Tamil with Madhavan in the lead.

"Now I think I'm finally coming home," Laughs Kamath. Kamath has completed his first Hindi film entitled Mumbai Meri Jaan.

The film produced by UTV has an enormously interesting ensemble cast, quite like UTV's release Metro where actors are used as actor and not stars.

Says Kamath, "That's exactly why I've chosen the cast that I have. Mumbai Meri Jaan will star Irrfan Khan, K.K Menon, Paresh Rawail, Soha Ali Khan and of course Madhavan. I don't think I can make a film without Madhavan," laughs Kamath.

Describing the film as a long lingering look at Mumbai, Kamath is fully into the project now. "My Hindi project came together all of a sudden. When I made Dombivali Fast in Marathi I never thought I'd be making it in Tamil.

And now after making a film in a language that I don't
understand I'm going into an area that will take my cinema
across regional borders. Strange are the ways of destiny!"

One Khan floors another ‘whiz’ Khan

Who hasn’t? So the industry woke up and rubbed their eyes in disbelief when he was spotted prowling around Shah Rukh Khan’s Bandra home, Mannat, the other night. We later discovered that he was here to interview a host of stars for his channel and wanted to begin with the King Khan himself (all the rest follow then, right?). But when Riz the whiz met the Shah of Bollywood, he was speechless. No, no! No cat got his tongue darlings; he spoke all right — in the interview, that is. What floored the man was the sheer intellect, wit, charm and humility of the superstar. Things that don’t normally go together. We know! But later, Riz was heard mumbling, “SRK is a great personality. What a man. So much modesty and charm, it’s amazing. No wonder he’s a superstar!” We know that too Riz, but one suggestion — after this item is read, hopefully you’re not trying for an interview with Salman Khan? Then don’t say we didn’t warn ya?

Akshay works non stop!

It ain’t easy to turn into a King, while there are other strong kingly forces around you.

But Akki has done it, royally so. Some call it luck; some call it hard-work. Akshay Kumar for one, doesn’t care if he is King of the Singhs or King of the Khans, all he does is work like kal ho na ho (like there is no tomorrow, silly). His producers, directors and the whole crew unanimously think that Akshay is a monster at work. Well, they mean that AK works at a monstrous space, and sometimes even they run outta breath keeping up with this superstar. We heard that he often plans meetings and photo-shoots at 6 am (now who would think a movie-star even wakes up for coffee at that hour?), and this is after a long, late-night shoot. Some insider from his work-force tells us, “We don’t grudge him, because if he is making us work hard, he’s toiling with us too. He works at such a fast-pace that sometimes you feel that he’s gobbling up all the stuff he has to do. And thank God... there are no starry tantrums.” Now isn’t that so un-starry like, Akki? We have never met such a sweet, gentlemanly, almost robotic monster. And so damn good-looking, too. Wotsay girlies?
