When Sanjay Dutt emerged one day, with a Manyata in a shaadi ka joda and generous amounts of sindoor in tow, it was hard to miss that there was yet another Mrs Dutt.
Or that the rest of the Dutts – sisters Priya and Namrata, daughter Trishala – were left saying, ‘But...?’ Because the wedding was a secret, even from the family. After much angry yet polite comments from the family on not knowing Manyata, since she’d made no “effort to mix with the family” (that was Namrata), Mrs and Mr Dutt went to the US to meet Trishala. The 19-year-old had been left speechless with rage at her dad’s secret wedding, but she finally spoke up about meeting Manyata (who had taken along diamonds as a gift for her stepdaughter), saying, “He seems to be happy and if he is happy then I’m happy for him. If he found what he needs in her (Manyata) then that’s great.” And now, Mrs Dutt is talking about kids...
